A township classic, chunky bread filled with achaar, polony, cheese and slap chips, big flavour on a budget.

Ingredients:

  • 1 white unsliced bread loaf (cut into quarters)
  • 2 potatoes
  • cooking oil, for frying chips
  • ¼ cup (60ml) achaar
  • 1 cheese slice
  • 2 Goldi chicken polony slices

Method:

  1. Peel and cut potatoes into chunky strips to make slap chips. Heat a pot with cooking oil and cook until the chips are golden in colour and the potatoes are cooked inside, and set aside.
  2. Cut the inner part of the quartered bread and toast it in a pan with butter.
  3. Spread achaar inside the open quarter, followed by Goldi chicken polony slices, cheese and then chips. Finish with any of your preferred sauces and enjoy.
