Super soup toppers
Add a topper to add extra flavour and texture pizzazz to your soup. Here are five quick and simple ideas.
- Crunchy croutons
Toasted herb and garlic bread cubes add crunch and savoury flavour to chicken and vegetable soups, soaking up tastes while maintaining their delightful crunch. - Avocado & lime
Diced avocado and a squeeze of fresh lime juice brighten creamy chicken soups. The creaminess of the avocado balances the broth, while the lime adds a refreshing zest. - Fresh herbs
A sprinkle of fresh herbs, such as parsley, coriander, or basil, can elevate the freshness of any soup. Adding herbs just before serving enhances the aroma and provides a burst of flavour, especially in chicken noodle or minestrone. - Spiced yoghurt drizzle
A dollop of yoghurt mixed with a touch of cumin, paprika, or harissa transforms a bowl of soup into a creamy, flavourful delight. This works wonderfully as a topper for rich chicken soups or lentil soups, adding both creaminess and a hint of spice. - Nuts and seeds
Toasted sunflower seeds, pepitas (pumpkin seeds), or slivered almonds provide a satisfying crunch and nutty flavour. They also add protein and texture, perfect for garnishing a hearty chicken soup or a soothing butternut squash soup.
